The Suhayl 2014 Vol 13 - International Journal for the History of the Exact and Natural Sciences in Islamic Civilisation FSTC is pleased to bring to the attention of readers the availability online of the 2015 volume of the. International Journal for the History of the exact and Natural Sciences in Islamic Civilisation.
The Suhayl: International Journal for the History of the Exact and Natural Sciences in Islamic Civilisation was founded in the 2001 and has since had acclaimed historians contribute to it including Professor Jan P. Hogendijk, Professor David A. King, Professor Julio Samso, Professor Ahmed Djebbar, Professor Emilia Calvo, Professor Paul Kunitzsch, amongst many others. The journal is named after the Arabic term Suhayl, or Canopus in English, a star which is used on a regular basis in the Islamic Tradition as an indicator of the qibla (direction of the Ka’aba, the most honoured building in Islam) since the Ka’ba’s main axis is orientated towards its rising point[1].
Suhayl International Journal for the History of the Exact and Natural Sciences in Islamic Civilisation brings original papers of the subjects mentioned in the title, as well as reviews. The Journal publishes one issue per year.[2] This year’s issue was sponsored by the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation. We encourage all Islamic Civilisation history enthusiasts to subscribe to the Suhayl journal and wish the University of Barcelona, as well as the Commission on History of Science and Technology in Islamic Societies all the best with future editions.
