Sihab Al-Din Ahmed ibn Abd Al-Wahhab Al-Nuwairi (d. 1331-2)
Al-Nuwairi's role in the Mamluk administration is reflected in his work Nihayat al-Arab fifunun al-Adab, a vast encyclopedia designed to contain "all the knowledge that was indispensable for a first-class scribe." Nearly half the work is devoted to history, arranged however, not in the manner of a universal chronicle but in the form of regional or dynastic sections, the last of which recounts the history of Egypt beginning with the Tulunids and continuing through the reign of al-Malik an-Nasir.
