Short biography - Prof. Mehmet Ipsirli
Mehmet Ipshirli is a Professor of history at the Fatih University, Istanbul. He has a special interest in Ottoman administrative and institutional history, Ottoman historiography, and in the study of the scholars (Ulema) of the Ottoman Learning System. He published numerous articles and books on the history of the Ottomans. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Department of the Near East, in 1976.
