Short biography - Dr Rim Turkmani
Dr Rim Turkmani is an Astrophysicist working with the Astrophysics group at the Imperial College. She is also Research Fellow of the Royal Society and Fellow of Foundation for Science Technology and Civilisation (FSTC).
She received her undergraduate at Damascus University and followed it by a Masters in Physics and a PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics from Chalmers University in Sweden in 2003. At the Imperial College, Rim Turkmani runs her own research project in the physics of Solar Flares collaborating with different national and international groups. She has published in many international refereed journals and spoke in numerous international conferences.
Since 2007, Dr Turkmani started researching the links between the Royal Society, the men of the scientific revolution and the Arabic science and language. She is preparing for an exhibition about this subject to be opened in June 2011 in collaboration between the Royal Society and FSTC.
