Short biography - Dr. Natalie Day
Natalie Day is a Senior Policy Adviser in the Royal Society Science Policy Centre and is the Project Manager for The Atlas of Islamic-World Science and Innovation, an ambitious study of the changing geography of science and innovation across the 57 Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Conference. As part of this project, Dr Natalie Day is also the lead researcher of a comprehensive analysis of STI in Malaysia and a similar study in Qatar. In addition to this role, she manages a project focused on building capacity in African science academies in Tanzania, Ghana and Ethiopia, as well as contributing to broader policy analysis of global science and innovation networks. Prior to joining the Royal Society, Dr Natalie Day was a Senior Researcher at the think tank Demos. She specialises in global innovation policy, with a particular focus on Asia, and recently co-authored Knowledge Nomads, a Demos report focused on the UK's capacity to attract and retain scientific talent. An Australian national, she was previously Senior Industry and Innovation Policy Adviser to the Hon. John Brumby, former Treasurer and Minister for Innovation in the Government of Victoria. Prior to joining Demos, Dr Natalie Day was Business Development Director at Asia link, based at the University of Melbourne, where she focused on Australia-Asia engagement and understanding. She has a Bachelor Degree in Arts (Media Studies), and a Masters in Business Administration.
