When people were asked about their perception of what characterizes the Muslim civilization and culture they would often mention the 1001 Nights (Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Aladdin and the Magic lamp, Sinbad the sailor and belly dancing harems).

Therefore, FSTC's ground-breaking international educational project, 1001 Inventions, was developed to challenge this myth. This has become the brand for a set of products simultaneously launched into the public domain. It tells Muslims about their golden past, stimulating an interest in science and knowledge through numerous role models (both male and female) who made hugely significant inventions. These scholars also peacefully coexisted with Christian, Jewish and Sabean scholars, sharing their pursuits of scientific knowledge for the betterment of society. 1001 Inventions also reveals to Muslims that those great inventors expressed their religiosity by being useful to society.

Hugely popular, 1001 Inventions is a global educational initiative. It comprises five unique, educational elements: an exhibition, a full-colour book, educational posters, a website (www.1001inventions.com) and a teachers' pack.

The project was so successful that it has become the trading company of FSTC.

The exhibition incorporates various interactive and static exhibits, including reproductions of inventions, which were significant in each of the seven respective fields of the exhibition: Home, School, Market, Hospital, Town, World and Universe. This theme of seven zones of human daily life runs throughout all of the 1001 Inventions projects.

The exhibition continues to tour in the UK and is beginning to go global. The first edition of the book was sold out and a second edition was printed. The website is constantly being updated and added onto, while the educational posters and the teachers' pack link up with work FSTC are undertaking for the National Curriculum.
