Professor Sari studied Experimental Psychology, Philosophy, Anthropology at Istanbul University (1968-l973) and completed her Medical Sciences Diploma in 1977.
Assistant researcher at the Department of Medical History and Ethics, Cerrahpasha Medical School (1973-1983); Ph.D Thesis on Ottoman Medical Ethics (1977); Thesis for Associate Professorship: Melancholia and its Treatment by Ottoman Physicians (1983); Assistant Associate Professor (1983). Head of the Department of Medical History and Ethics of Cerrahpaşa Medical School since l983; Professor (l988). General Secretary of the Turkish Medical History Society (l984-l990); President of the Turkish Medical History Society (2000-2005); Vice President of the International Society for History of Medicine (ISHM, l999-2003); Representative of Turkey for ISHM (l999-2003); Vice President of the International Society for History of Islamic Medicine (ISHIM) since 2000.
Professor Sari has published about 350 Publications and Presentations on medical history and ethics; Founder of the Medical History Museum of the Cerrahpasha Medical School, (l985) and re-founder in 2004; Editor, "History of Medicine Studies" Yearbook since l986; Paper, "Sabuncuoghlu Serefeddin, an Outstanding Personality in Turkish History of Pediatric Surgery" awarded a medal of history of pediatric surgery (l988); Holder of United States and International Patent on "methods for treating neo-plastic disorders (l997); Successful Researcher Certificate, Istanbul University Research Fund (l996); President of several Congresses on Medical History, e.g., 38th International Congress of ISHM.
Outside medicine professor Sari has a particular interest in Turkish-Islamic miniature painting and illuminated art.
