Dr. Munim Al-Rawi graduated with a BSc degree in Geology/Physics from the University of Baghdad in 1965, and obtained MSc & PhD degrees in Petroleum Geology from the Imperial College London in 1967 & 1972 respectively. He had two years post-doctoral research experience in London (1972-74), and had ten years academic experience as an Assistant Professor at the Kuwait University (1974-82). He had been Visiting Professor at the King Abdulaziz University (1985-86) and at the UAE University (1989-90).
He was the Associated Consultant Geologist with Arab Petroleum Consultants, Kuwait (1975-80), and Petro Consultants SA, Geneva (1982-93). Between 1993 and 1997, he was Project Coordinator with HEDCO, Ireland, of EU funded project in Science and Technology at the Higher Council of Science and Technology, Amman, Jordan. In 1998, he founded his company Carta Design Ltd. in Ireland to provide geological consulting services on the Middle East.
Dr. Munim Al-Rawi is also an independent researcher in the History of Muslim Earth Sciences since 1976. He contributed several publications in Syria, Kuwait, UNESCO, UK and most recently at the University of Sharjah, UAE. He has been a member of FSTC since 2002.
