Charles Burnett

Prof. Charles Burnett is currently a Professor of the History of Islamic Influences in Europe at the Warburg Institute, University of London. His previous appointments and distinctions include visiting Professor at the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich; distinguished Visiting Professor in Medieval Studies, University of California in Berkeley; and lecturer in the History of Islamic Influences in Europe at the Warburg Institute, University of London. Professor Burnett has several research interests in the transmission of learning from the Arabic world to the West in the Middle Ages and Renaissance and in the history of music theory and Christian culture in China and Japan in the 16th and 17th centuries.
